He became a physical therapist, gaining experience in rehabilitation hospitals and home-based therapy as a therapist specializing in massage and physical therapy. During his training in various therapeutic techniques, he discovered Shiatsu and was deeply fascinated by its depth, which inspired him to pursue a career as a Shiatsu practitioner. While continuing his work as a physical therapist, he studied at Japan Shiatsu College—the largest Shiatsu training school in Japan, established in 1940—under Yasutaka Kaneko,Akitomo Kobayashi and other masters, studying and refining techniques that combine traditional Shiatsu with modern therapeutic knowledge.
In 2023, he moved to Marseille, where he opened the Shiatsu clinic IKOI, and as one of the few Japanese Shiatsu practitioners in France, he continues to practice and promote Shiatsu.

A message from the therapist:

THE POWER OF SHIATSU

« I was born and raised in Japan. As a therapist, I have spent many years working with people and helping them reconnect with their bodies and minds.
Fatigue, stress, and physical tension are part of our lives, regardless of where or when we live. This has led me to continually ask myself, “What more can I do to help others?” It was through this search that I discovered Shiatsu.

In Japan, many traditions and practices for caring for the body and living in harmony with it have been passed down through generations. One of them is teate, which literally means “placing the hands to care for someone.”

A hand gently placed on a painful area can bring comfort. A hand on the back can simply help release tension. These simple gestures have always been a natural part of my Japanese heritage.

Shiatsu is not simply a technique of applying pressure to the body. It is a way of listening to the body, sensing its needs, and accompanying each person with care and attention.

It is this knowledge, passed down from Japan, that I now wish to share here in France.»

Keita Ogawa.

Mission

Spread Shiatsu throughout the world

Contribute to health and longevity

Preserve the tradition and develop Shiatsu

About Us IKOI (憩い) means in japanese “to rest the mind and body”.
